April-May 2026 Update
Here's to Spring!
Posted: 28.04.2026
Happy Spring?
That’s what the calendar says, but Old Man Winter is hanging around like the most notorious of unwanted house guests. Crummy weather aside, we have a lot planned in the upcoming month, so this may be a long one. Please read it all so you are fully updated.
Parade of Garage Sales - Watch ths Unwanted Become the Wanted!
May 9th (9 am – 3 pm): The annual Parade of Garage Sales in the Lakes of Muirfield is always a great event that gives residents a chance to get out and meet neighbors while finding bargains at the same time. Check Facebook for times and how to get a sign.
Community Clean-up: New (old) Location This Year - West End of the Boulevard
May 23rd (10 am – 4 pm) - Volunteers Needed for The Clean-up First!: We will be meeting at the west end of the Boulevard in the open area where the pavement ends at 10 am and splitting into teams to walk the community picking up any winter blown refuse still left in the community. Bags will be provided, bring your own work gloves, and since it may be soggy in some areas, rubber boots are recommended. Wheatland County has plans for crews to tidy up around the W.I.D. canal as soon as the weather improves, so we hope there isn’t much left there.
The reason for the location change is the County has received an offer of purchase for the former Presentation Centre and parking lot at the entrance. The sale has been approved by Staff and Council and is in the final stages of negotiation, so the County suggested the alternate location. Info on the plans for the building will follow.
Two bins, for both yard waste, and household garbage that we can’t leave for Bluplanet will be available from 10 am to 4:00 pm.
Note: No hazardous waste or chemicals, no used oil, no tires in either bin, please.
Come on down, go for a stroll with garbage bag in hand, meet a few neighbors and later, drop off your unwanted household junk, or grass clippings.

Lyalta Community Club Update
The Back to 80’s Party at the Lyalta Community Centre on Saturday April 18th, was a resounding success! Over 140 folks danced and sang along to an eclectic mix of favorites from that musically iconic decade, faithfully and artfully performed by local trio RETRObution who kept the much-loved hits rocking all evening.
While the live music was well worth attendance, the reasonable drink and snack prices and the enthusiastic participation by attendees with their best interpretation of 80’s attire made the paltry $5 cover charge the best entertainment investment experienced anywhere for years.
Hate to follow up with some sad news, but the Annual Spring Market at the Lyalta Hall may not be scheduled this year. This annual and much-loved event usually operates as part of the Parade of Garage Sales day, but a number of vendors who offered crafts/baked goods in the past are unable to commit this year. Please keep an eye on Facebook, TownSQ and our website for more information in the coming weeks.
The RV Lot is at a little over half capacity but there is still plenty of room for RV’s, travel and sport trailers. If you have recently acquired a camp/sport unit the Lot is conveniently located on the west side accessed via RR265 and rates are very competitive.
Email for more information.
Amenities/Recreation Update
After frustrating delays in 2025 pushed our plans into 2026 your HOA Board and Amenities-Recreation Committee members have been all hands on deck.
We are happy to report our contracted Engineers completed and submitted the Development Permit in record time by end of March, Wheatland County Staff expedited the process, and Public Circulation should follow very soon, we expect it will be fully approved last week of May.
At the same time, the A-R Committee conducted a lengthy negotiation and review of proposals from contractors interested in the project the last three months. This week, the Lakes of Muirfield HOA Board of Directors, with input and participation from members of the Lyalta Community Club Board chose the winning quote. We are currently reviewing the contract and will provide more information upon completion.
Wheatland County Operations has scheduled the in-kind work on the east parking lot, the new campground access driveway and soccer field for a mid-August start. This vitally important work must be completed (so LCC summer bookings are not disrupted) before we break ground on the Maintenance-Dressing Room building and all-season sport court/ice rink. This grading and prep work along with the gravel necessary to surface the driveway and parking area saves us more than $400,000 if we had to contract and build it ourselves. Thank you, Wheatland County!
And that’s not all! A few years ago, when the HOA was negotiating with the County for some kind of greenspace, and Phase 2 lots were selling like beverages at an outdoor music festival on a hot day, Wheatland County set aside $100,000 from the proceeds of the sales and earmarked it for HOA use to build much needed amenities (once we figured out between us where to put them).
We’ve just confirmed those funds are still available to help us pay for our upcoming build. This will be a great help to cover any contingency costs on our current project and bolster our amenities reserves for Phase 2 of our plans. We really must commend our Div 5 Councillor Scott Klassen and County Staff for their support.
Annual Spring Reminder
Your HOA would like to remind all residents of a few items that we should all be aware of with the seasonal change. Please note the Arc Controls can be found on the TownsSQ App or on our website at www.LakesofMuirfieldCommunity.com under Architectural Controls.
Landscaping
- Landscaping on all new builds must be complete within the required timeline (1 year after possession). (Arc Control 8.0)
- You must put in an application to the HOA for any outdoor renovation/landscaping (new or repair/upgrades) you are planning to do and receive appropriate approval before commencing work. See Architectural Controls Section(s) 8.0, 13.1, 13.6
General Guidelines
- Homeowners cannot allow their lot to become unsightly due to accumulation of debris, waste, unlicensed motor vehicles, scrap material, weed/grass and/or vegetation growth higher than 12”.
- Homeowners are not permitted to park or store any motor vehicle/object/chattel,(this includes flatbed and utility trailers) in the opinion of the HOA, that is unsightly or adversely affects the amenities of neighbouring properties. *See Architectural Controls Section(s) 7.10, 7.11, 7.17
- New Build Sites remain the responsibility of Wheatland County. Bylaw officers are responsible for policing these sites and make multiple community visits each month. It’s a large County though, so to report irresponsible build site maintenance, call Wheatland County Bylaws & Protective Services at 403-361-2026, or email – please CC the HOA for our follow-up.
Recreational Vehicle Rules
- Recreation Vehicles may be parked with tow unit attached for no longer than 72 hours on the street. Travel trailers and RV’s may be parked on driveways no longer than 72 hours.
- Prohibits the habitation of any RV while parked on the street. See Architectural Controls Section 7.9, Wheatland County Traffic Control Bylaw 2019-20
Violation Process and Fine Schedule
- A homeowner found in violation of any architectural control may be subjected to a fine.
- A written letter with a first offence reminder will be emailed to the address in question requesting compliance by a certain date or number of days.
- If a second letter is required, a fine and an Admin fee will be charged. An updated deadline for compliance will be set.
- See Arc Control Violation Fine Schedule 2.12.24 available exclusively on TownSQ.
*Utility trailers, Storage Containers or reno-related refuse bins for household moves and/or renovations may be stored on driveways only, without blocking the sidewalk, for a temporary period beyond the 72 hours, but prior approval must be obtained from the HOA. Email: for permission. Please include estimated duration the unit will be parked on the driveway. If an extension is required, please inform the HOA via email prior to approved end date.
Golf Course
This is a reminder that the Golf Course and all lands within are PRIVATE PROPERTY. You are NOT allowed to enter their premises without approval from the owners. This includes walking your dog on course property, using the course without consent or payment, etc. These acts could be considered trespassing and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Please be courteous and respectful of each other as we are all neighbours living in the same wonderful community. These policies will and can be enforced to ensure compliance. Thank you and enjoy your Spring and Summer!

The Lakes of Muirfield is under the authority of Wheatland County bylaws. They may be found here. For regulations outside the purview of Wheatland County, our Architectural Controls are in place and may be downloaded here.
HISTORY
Nearly two decades have passed since the approved Entitlement Process allowed for the phased development of more than 700 residences, a resort style golf course, and a small commercial component, north of the existing hamlet of Lyalta in 2005. In that time, the Lakes of Muirfield has faced more than it’s share of challenges, but we can now boast a vibrant, growing, and beautiful community that was well worth it. Want to learn more? Muirfield Lakes Golf Club
