August 2026 Update
It's Hot Out There!

Road Construction at Lakes of Muirfield Entrance
The former Presentation Centre/Mercantile/Sales Centre building and parking lot on the southwest corner of Range Road 264 and Muirfield Boulevard outside the community entrance has been sold by the County.
As part of the terms of the sale, the County is connecting the building to the same water and wastewater infrastructure Wheatland County operates for the community. The building has been operating on their own septic tank, and a grey water pond up to now.
We have been told the plans for the building include a pharmacy and a part-time medical clinic. No timeline when it will be open for business has been shared, as the interior no doubt requires an extensive build-out once upgrades and repairs are completed.
As we know more, we will share with area residents. The County and the HOA appreciates your patience while the roadwork is completed.
Please Slow Down
Schools are closed for the summer so that means community children and teens have joined the usual walkers and bikers on our streets. We ask everyone to respect the posted speed limit of 30 KMH and be extra vigilant driving through the Lakes of Muirfield.
We hope the sign at the entrance and County Peace Officers’ traffic control stations program that has been ongoing in the last few weeks get the message to contractors/service vehicles and non-residents arriving for and departing from their tee times as well, but its not always non-residents who exceed the limit, so please pay extra attention to your speed when leaving and returning home.
Which brings us to RV’s and travel trailers parked on driveways and on the street. Here again, we ask for consideration. Between contractors, golfers, and vacationing residents, our roads are busier during the summer months, and these vehicles interfere with site lines so kids biking, roller blading or on scooters and distracted by youthful pursuits are not always seen until the last second. Please, do not park your recreational vehicle for extended periods. County bylaws have a limit of 72 hours and forbid the use of slide outs on community streets at any time.
Building Site Garbage & Empty Lot Maintenance
Wheatland County remains the Development Authority for the Lakes of Muirfield. The HOA has limited jurisdiction when it comes to enforcing responsible and considerate building site and empty lot maintenance. Even so, your HOA still reaches out to lot owners and builders, and we are in constant communication with Wheatland Protective Services regarding this ongoing frustration.
Both the County and the HOA, however, must follow a strict procedure that can take weeks before threat of fines take effect, and this problem is like weeds in a yard, pull out one, and two more pop up, it seems. We are all volunteers on the HOA Board, and work, family commitments and vacations means we cannot be in all places at all times. We are also short-handed and working on other community projects that require the time of every Board member.
We do have seats available on the Board, by the way, and welcome any who are passionate about our wonderful community to join us. We could use the help.
Protective Services do respond to complaints, so if you notice a site or lot not being properly maintained, please contact and include photos if you can. Please cc the HOA at and so we have your complaint on file for follow-up.
Greenspace & Recreation Amenities Update
Unforeseen delays including an overwhelmed Council agenda at the July 7th meeting and due diligence by the Planning and Development department pushed review of our Development Permit to the August 16 Council meeting.
County Operations is still planning to start their in-kind work at the LCC that same week, and our contractor is submitting the equipment garage and sport court Building Permit shortly to expedite review and approval so they may start as close to when Operations completes their work as possible. As we know more, we will update everyone.
Thank you for your interest. We hope you enjoy the rest of summer!

Where do I obtain a copy of the bylaws?
The Lakes of Muirfield is under the authority of Wheatland County bylaws. They may be found here. For regulations outside the purview of Wheatland County, our Architectural Controls are in place and may be downloaded here.
HISTORY
Nearly two decades have passed since the approved Entitlement Process allowed for the phased development of more than 700 residences, a resort style golf course, and a small commercial component, north of the existing hamlet of Lyalta in 2005. In that time, the Lakes of Muirfield has faced more than it’s share of challenges, but we can now boast a vibrant, growing, and beautiful community that was well worth it. Want to learn more? Muirfield Lakes Golf Club
A semi-private 6400-yard links style gem renowned for its fast, manicured (and tricky) greens.
