Spring 2026 Update
Yes, It's Still Winter - But We Knew That, Didn't We?
Posted: 11.04.2026
Okay, Someone Turn off The White Stuff, Please!
Hopefully everyone had a chance to spend time with families and friends during the Easter break. It appears the geese and robins know what time of year it is, but the weatherman did not get the memo. Or perhaps we’ve been spoiled the last few years with spring weather that actually arrived shortly after the date on the calendar. Hopefully this won’t be one of those Aprils where winter hangs around like an unwanted houseguest long after the party is over, and warmer, sunnier days soon prevail.
Amenities - Greenspace Project Update
The necessary surveys and reports are complete and the Development Permit for the entire project has been submitted to Wheatland County by our Engineering firm. We are hopeful the Permit will be passed on to the County’s Planning Meeting in an expedient manner so Council can approve and the standard 30-day public consultation period started. Wheatland County Operation Crews must complete the east driveway, and parking area to provide access to the camping area before we can start on the maintenance building with heated dressing room and all-season sport court.
Final quotes have been received to construct the 30’ x 40’ building with handicap access for non-gender specific washroom, skate change area, maintenance and storage areas, and a 65’ x 153’ natural ice rink with boards, lighting, and four pickleball courts. We will be conducting a special directors’ meeting to review and vote on the winning quote.
Dog Owners - Please Be Considerate
We realize we’re sounding rather redundant, but when we receive complaints, we must act upon them, and unlike other years, this subject has been an ongoing irritant with a number of residents. Perhaps this on again, off again winter has resulted in exposing rather unpleasant amounts of dog waste in yards, along paths and sidewalks, and in the dog park, but whatever the reason, dog walkers, please be considerate and clean up after your pet.
This extends to the off-leash dog park as well. Our friends at the Lyalta Community Club have asked us to remind everyone that owners should keep an eye on their pets when using the park, and police the poop when deposited. The lease agreement with the Western Irrigation District that owns that land is conditional on keeping the area relatively free of Fido feces. That’s why a dog stations with bags and a bin to discard them in are provided.
Your kind attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
Our Flowerports Are Getting a Re-fresh
You may notice pots going missing in pairs from the entrance on Muirfield Boulevard over the oncoming days. Don’t worry, they’ll be back. Our supplier, Silk Plant Warehouse are taking out the fall foliage and replacing it with the lovely flowers that grace the pots each
spring and summer. Our windy conditions have caused the foam the silk flowers/greenery are anchored in to loosen up and some of the decorations have been lost or hail damaged. So, we’re replacing the weather worn flowers and greenery and installing them in new foam
anchors, two pots at a time.
In the meantime, for your own silk plant decorative needs, don’t forget Lakes of Muirfield residents receive a 10% discount at Silk Plant Warehouse. Check out the Partners page for their contact information.

HISTORY
Nearly two decades have passed since the approved Entitlement Process allowed for the phased development of more than 700 residences, a resort style golf course, and a small commercial component, north of the existing hamlet of Lyalta in 2005. In that time, the Lakes of Muirfield has faced more than it’s share of challenges, but we can now boast a vibrant, growing, and beautiful community that was well worth it. Want to learn more?
